Proud to Be Collaborating With Bazelevs

Woolf+Lapin has always embraced new and different forms of storytelling, especially this timely, new cinematic language.

In these times of confinement, there couldn’t be a better vehicle for storytelling. And Bazelevs principal Timur Bekmambetov’s 5-pic deal with Universal is no small surprise.

“Screenlife is a disruptive form of storytelling that eschews traditional cameras for methods that visually drive the narrative through stories that unfold from the POV of smartphones and computer screens, where most of us now spent the bulk of our waking hours.”

We are very happy to have two ongoing Screenlife projects with Bazelevs.

Dreamkatcher #1 Streaming Movie in US/ Virtual Q & A

COVID-19 forced the cancelling of upcoming DreadVision screenings, but the team found new and creative ways to give audiences one-of-a-kind experiences by connecting horror fans with great films and the people who make them.

Dreamkatcher director Kerry Harris, horror icon Lin Shaye (Insidious, The Grudge), Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill, Pitch Black), Finlay Wojtak-Hissong, and Jules Wilcox gave a panel discussion last night! And as of last night, the film was the top streaming film in the US. Serious props to Lin Shaye for her toilette paper earrings during the virtual Q & A.

In this terrifying horror-thriller, Gail (Radha Mitchell, Silent Hill) is forced to come to terms with Josh, her new stepson, at a remote country home. After stealing an evil talisman from a mysterious neighbor, Josh has sinister dreams of his dead mother, who commands Josh to murder Gail. When Josh’s dad (Henry Thomas, “The Haunting of Hill House”) returns, he and Gail suspect that their son has been possessed by an ancient, bloodthirsty spirit. Is it too late to save Josh’s life or their own?

Written by Dan V. Shea, the terrifying thriller with a unique spin on possession and dream invasion, is now available on DVD, Digital, and On Demand from Lionsgate. The horrors of the night will not compare to the nightmares of reality.

‘Cold War’ star Tomasz Kot cast in Robert Hloz’s ‘Restore Point’

In the 2038 Europe, death is no longer the end of your life. Detective Emma Trochinowska has to solve a murder-mystery where the only witness is one of the resurrected victims.

After stabilizing the first refugee crisis, followed by a number of terrorist attacks, all the citizens of the Free European Federation received a new constitutional law that guarantees “ONE WHOLE LIFE TO LIVE“.

Thanks to technology, everyone gets the right of recovery in case of unnatural death. All you need to do is to regularly create a “RESTORE POINT,” a backup where your memory is saved.

In this society “ABSOLUTE MURDER” is nearly impossible.

Polish actor Tomasz Kot, best known for his starring role in Pawel Pawlikowski’s Cold War, will star in Czech director Robert Hloz’s Restore Point.

The sci-fi detective project won the Screen International Best Pitch Award at Tallinn’s Baltic Event co-production market in 2017.

According to Hloz, Alfonso Cuarón’s dystopian sci-fi thriller Children Of Men was an inspiration for both screenwriter Tomislav Cecka and himself.

Hloz says Restore Point is embarking production, which is set for 2020. Final locations were secured in Slovakia late November. The project was part of Fantasia’s Frontières 2017.

The project is being structured as a co-production between Jan Kallista’s Czech production outfit Film Kolektiv, Rasto Sestak of Slovakia’s D.N.A. Production and Stanislaw Dziedzic of Poland’s Filmprodukcja.

Valerie Barnhart & Woolf+Lapin Pair UP

Girl in the Hallway is the winner of the 2019 Vimeo Staff Pick Award at the 2019 Ottawa International Animation Festival.

Why does ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ give Jamie nightmares? It’s been 15 years, and the girl in the hallway haunts him still. This is a testament to locked doors.

A lullaby sung by wolves with duct tape and polaroids. Not all girls make it out of the forest. Some stories children shouldn’t hear.

We are thrilled to be working with Valerie, especially her next project which is a mixed-technique, dramatic feature.
