Coolrain Inspires Woolf + Lapin

We’ve blogged about this guy before.

But there’s nothing like starting a Monday morning with this great stuff.

Check out the details…

The fixed gear, the cycle caps, everything down to the shamballa bracelet!

See Creature’s Signal Film for the Ottawa International Animation Festival

Here’s See Creature talking about the film:

“During the 2011 Ottawa International Animation Festival the Montreal-based art initiative EN MASSE and friends created a 6’ by 16’ mural during the festival weekend, while we documented and animated the creation. Since then, we have taken all that footage, added to it and created the 2012 festival signal film with an “A capella” soundtrack completed by Bryant Vance.

“This film is being played before every screening at the 2012 OIAF, Sept 19-23 and we’re very grateful for the wonderful opportunity given to us by the festival! See you at the fest, follow us on twitter as we actually see the films this year.

En Masse contributing artists: Rupert Bottenberg, Fred Casia, Dave Cooper, Dale Hayward, Pascal Rodrigue, Carlos Santos, Malcolm Sutherland, and Jason Wasserman.”

See Creature and the Ottawa International Animation Festival

This is a sneak peek of See Creature and En Masse in action at the 2011 Ottawa International Animation Festival.

It is a cool animated time lapse.

The filming of the painting’s creation is used in the festival’s 2012 signal film.

The film in question will be released SOON.

And will run for the duration of the Ottawa International Animation Festival.

The festival runs September 19 to the 23.

Tean Schultz Writes for Muppets at Just For Laughs Gala

This is Woolf +Lapin’s Tean Schultz, during his stint as staff writer for the Muppets Gala.

The Muppets performed the closing act during the Thursday Just for Laughs gala.

The comedy fest, which celebrated its 30th anniversary, wrapped Saturday.

And after thirty years it is still pegged as the finest of its kind in the world.

Here’s the Montreal Gazette reviewing the Muppets Gala: “Even some lovers of those warm and fuzzy Muppets had their doubts the characters would work in a gala. But they exceeded all expectations. Even those of us as cynical as Statler and Waldorf were blown away. The two Muppets galas were magical, both for allowing Kermie (shorter in real life), his babe Miss Piggy, the Swedish Chef (who had to be defibrillated numerous times after knocking back poutine)…”

“In a three-week span, Just for Laughs presented 250 shows in English and French and featured 4,000 performers — both of which are records.” Not bad for a 30th anniversary!

Georges St-Pierre and Patrick Boivin Pair Up In New Ninja Clip

In Patrick Boivin’s new stop-motion clip, Georges St-Pierre kicks Ninja butt for Google’s Nexus 7.

In hindsight, it seems almost inevitable these two should collaborate on a project together.

And to what effect!

The clip is also a good opportunity for the UFC champion to bring visibility to his anti-bullying foundation.

Woolf + Lapin is happy to have collaborated on this project and can’t wait to see  the web community’s reaction.

New Woolf + Lapin Collaborator: Barry Russell and His Photographic Installation

If you don’t know already, Woolf + Lapin is a true fan of street art.

Under all its guises.

Well, new Woolf + Lapin collaborator Barry Russell really hits the mark with his installation People You Might Know, un portrait Montréalais.

The installation showcases 21 photographs of anonymous Montreal artists.

The photographs are pasted in situ across the city’s most unlikely spots, overtaking if not altogether improving an otherwise drab city panorama.

Barry Russell is a DOP and photographer .

Woolf + Lapin is happy to welcome him. And looking forward to collaborating on upcoming projects.
