Tinywatch Productions the Next Thing?

Some of you may have seen this hilarious clip by a gang of Missouri kids called Tiny Watch Productions.

The clip in question made the headlines south of the border not only because it’s so funny (it pegs an electronics store employee against a client who seriously covets an Iphone4 without really knowing why), but also because it resulted in the firing of one of the guys from Tiny Watch Productions who happened to work at Best Buy at the time the clip went live.

Best Buy feared the clip slighted the name of a product they carried as well as their own (Best Buy is not mentioned once). But in the end Best Buy turned out to be the big loser in the media hoopla that followed. They retracted and decided to take said employee back, but said employee refused.

Serious props to him!

The most impressive thing about Tiny Watch Productions is how so perfectly DIY their stuff is. There’s of course no big studio polish behind it; it’s another story of people doing it by themselves. And getting noticed!

What’s even more unique is that they use different software available on the Internet to create their little gems. The “Iphone4 vs HTC Evo” clip for one was done using the xtranormal software. Their website says: “if you can type you can make films.” It’s true. We tried it.

They have a new clip up on their channel. For this one, they used the GoAnimate.com’s tool set. It may not be perfect, but it clearly shows what’s trending on the animation and DIY front.

Thanks to the Internet, there’s a whole generation of users out there who’ve come of age being taught that they can succeed by doing it by and for themselves. And by being smart if not altogether smart-alecky about it.

Tiny Watch has surpassed eight million clicks with their one clip.

Crazy how many eyeballs you can get using one measly computer…
