Sébastien Paccioni is profiled in Infopresse as the young professional to watch. We have written about him before in connection with exo7, the design company he co-founded and co-owns with Maya Rioux, a talented artistic director in her own right.

Sébastien, and exo7, are also using the right combination of talent and strategies to market films online. This step involves getting in on the ground floor; and that means the script. It’s figuring out the nuts and bolts of the plot, the overall subject matter, and the characters all in the aim of developing the brand. Then comes the next important part, “tailoring the media strategy to suit the particular audience for that film.” And successful branding is what Sébastien is all about.

Our very own Francine Pelletier and David Sherman are producing two Montreal dates for the Buenos Aires band Astillero, a six-man band who is said to be rewriting the rules of Tango. Yes the Paris-based Gotan Project brought much credibility to the genre, but Astillero go much further by being strong proponents of the Maquina Tanguera movement. Astillero resists the tango for export or tourist tango wave. As much as Argentina is changing, the art form has to change and reflect the reality of Buenos Aires today.  For them, as David says, “tango is a cause.” That’s why Francine and David are behind a documentary that will chronicle the rise of Maquina Tanguera. Because as Francine explains, “the Maquina Tanguera is as much cultural as it is political.” This new take on tango is what they want to get on film.

Martine a scénarisé l’épisode coup de poing de Ramdam qui est sans contredit l’émission jeunesse la plus populaire du Québec et qui, en occurrence, fête sa 8^ième et dernière année. Martine prend ainsi part à la fin de cette longue et belle aventure télévisée de Télé-Québec. Pour cet épisode, le défi d’écriture s’annonçait d’autant plus difficile car il traitait de la mort du personnage de France Castel et comment les ados vivent avec le deuil. Délicat pas à peu près ! C’est pour dire que les producteurs et le diffuseur avaient foi totale en Martine. Mais devant un tel challenge, pourquoi s’incliner ? Elle a donc habilement amené un sujet aussi difficile que naturel au petit écran. De plus, il fallait le traiter tout en outillant et sensibilisant les ados à la maison. Oui c’est le moment des adieux pour ce perso, mais nous n’avons pas fini d’entendre parler de cet épisode. Bravo Martine !
