We’ve said it here before, Naomi is currently producing, writing and directing a multi-disciplinary performance entitled Çaturn, involving dance and a narrative-based film. The show premieres at Usine C November 5th 2008 with eight scheduled performances to follow, and that’s to say nothing of a national and international tour with stints at Festival Danse Encore, the Festival Saint-Sauveur and the Canada Dance Festival at the National Arts Centre, Ottawa.

Çaturn exists between the poles of science and the imaginary. It weighs the fundamentals of change and the possibility of an inherent memory linking humanity and all time. This production is a hybrid of artistic mediums that plays between the philosophical and the humourous, the concrete and the desired. Naomi is working with top collaborators such as Robert Lepage, Frédérike Bédard, Crystal Pite and Janine Sutto to name a few.

Nous sommes très heureux d’accueillir le compositeur Martin Gauthier qui oeuvre depuis déjà un certain temps comme compositeur à la pige, notamment chez l’Oreille et Alliance. Il a d’ailleurs obtenu une nomination aux Gémeaux 2008 pour l’épisode Nettoyage à sec de la série télé Le Négociateur sur TVA. En effet, quoi que très bien tournée et jouée, la scène en question ne serait pas tout à fait ce qu’elle est sans musique. Il faut visionner le clip pour comprendre.

Exo7 were profiled in Grafika to announce the launch of their new website as well as their move to a better location on the Main. The Montreal studio took advantage of this move to completely overhaul their corporate image as well as reposition themselves. They will continue to be, however, THE hangout for creators and strategists alike.

They are in fact celebrating their move tonight at their new offices with a 5 à 7. Guess where we’ll be tonight? Cheers to exo7!

We have already blogged about this video a few times: there’s a fair chance we will again. Chosen from among a good many artists in the Behance creative network, Jérémie’s work, especially his latest We Are Wolves’ Fight & Kiss video, got him the nod. He is spotlighted by Behance Magazine for having helmed what they call “best-loved projects.” And how! The video will be part of the Music Video program in the Projections series of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, July 9th to September, 28th 2008.

Based on the old Shakespearian tale of forbidden love, David and Fatima, both written and directed by Alain, is his first outing since moving to LA and leaving behind the Canadian movie making bureaucracy a bit more than a year ago. Though we have not seen the film, judging from the strong trailer and accompanying site with all manner of great stills, this tale is rather close to Alain personally.

Here’s the short synopsis: “Jerusalem: A city of contrasts and conflicts where Arabs, Jews, Christians and Muslims all mix but never mingle. This is where David, a young Israeli Jew and Fatima, a beautiful Palestinian girl, meet and fall in love. But in a volatile land that is steeped in tradition and soaked in blood, their love is forbidden.”

Rising stars Cameron Van Hoy and Danielle Pollack play the title roles and give outstanding performances. Also in the cast is Academy Award winner Martin Landau, with a special appearance by Hollywood legend Tony Curtis.
