Amid all the political scandals, it’s always refreshing to turn our attention elsewhere… perhaps  to the end of the world…

In the Autumn of 2013, Caleb Slain was one of three filmmakers recruited to explore the work of a team helping children in some of the most ignored area of the globe. He and cinematographer Chad Terpstra ventured out into the Indian state of “Nagaland,” one of the most remote regions of the eastern Himalayas to learn about it’s people, the health conditions of the children, and a group called “Vitamin Angels”.

There is good out there.

We are very happy that Woolf+Lapin is among top agency/management partners to judge the Launchpad’s upcoming 2019 TV Pilot Competition. This would be our second collaboration with the competition. Their focus is on elevation and discovery. So we’re especially grateful to Chris Contreras from the Launchpad for giving us access to this hub of creativity and enabling us to discover great, emerging talent.

The Holy City (OccupiedVR) is an innovative immersive and gamified VR experience of one of the world’s spiritual epicenters. The project reflects an innovation mindset, harnessing cutting edge technology and creating a platform that carries a unique opportunity to understand a new perspective.

The interactive experience will be utilized as an educational, exploratory, and interactive experience rich in narrative and cultural history. Users will be transported to an ancient land to explore historic sites, interact with locals, and gain a deep understanding of a foreign culture.

The historical and culturally driven learning experience will make the viewer feel like they are traveling across the world to a foreign land, seizing an immersive cultural experience of a lifetime. This rich immersion will help celebrate diversity rooted in culture, fostering an inclusive sense of community that you will have to see to believe.

This February, the winners for the 2018 ScreenCraft Action/Thriller Screenplay competition were announced. Selected from roughly 800 entries, Edison’s Ghost by our very own Kevin Bachar was named the winner.

In Edison’s Ghost, after the mysterious death of his wife, young infamous inventor, Thomas Edison, teams up with renowned magician, Harry Houdini, to uncover the truth. Inspired by true events, the two men use their diametric skill sets to reveal diabolical forces at play. The judges were impressed with the slick confident writing and fun read akin to recent historical action films such as Sherlock Holmes.

In addition to the ScreenCraft team, the judges included: Belles Avery of Apelles Entertainment (The Meg); Jeannette Francis of Bad Robot (Star Trek, Cloverfield); Matthew Leonetti (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and The Equalizer); Andrew Bergamo (Deadpool, Logan, Constantine, and The X-Men films); and the legendary screenwriter Steven E. de Souza, (Die Hard, 48 Hrs., Commando and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life).

Both the Grand Prize winner, Bachar, and runner-up, Travis Opgenorth, will each receive cash prizes and have their material circulated to ScreenCraft’s network of agents, managers, and producers.

That’s not all for Kevin. His other script Blood Relative is casting with John Poliquin directing. Mitchell Peck optioned Kevin’s Page Award finalist Tundra Kill and his My Boy Friend the App, which won Final Draft Big Break, is a finalist for Stage 32 National Lampoon Search for Comedy Gold.
