Kaveh Nabatian’s Taxi Libre

Kaveh’ short film was just posted on the NFB website.

“In this short fiction film, a Mexican university professor is stuck driving a taxi in Montreal. His tequila-swilling guardian angel doesn’t make life any easier.”

How come highly educated immigrants can’t get the jobs they’re especially trained for?

Tonight he’s playing with Little Scream @ Le National.

Saturday in Quebec City at Le Cercle with Little Scream.

He’ll be at the 2011 Jutra award ceremony on Sunday again with his short film Vapor.

And then off to SXSW with Little Scream.

Here’s a Spanish interview he gave to Radio Canada International

Here’s what the New York Times had to say about Little Scream’s SXSW show: “Among the best I heard were… Little Scream, a Canadian band whose elaborate arrangements segued from chamber-pop to guitar clangor and elsewhere.”

Christian Lalumière’s Short Training Session @ South by Southwest 2011

Christian Lalumière’s short Training Session (produced by Émilie Heckmann) is in competition at SXSW 2011.

The film will be screening in Austin with two other films from Québec, namely Denis Villeneuve’s Incendies and Halima Ouardiri‘s Mokhtar .

Not missing a beat, the Quebec government is jumping into the fray to showcase Québec talent at SXSW with their own cultural campaign awkwardly called Planète Québec, launched by Culture Minister Christine St-Pierre.

Also of note, Training Session is also competing at the Festival de court-métrage francophone de Munich.

Not bad at all for a festival run…
