Infinitheatre season kicks off tonight with Amy Lee Lavoie play’s Rabbit Rabbit. But later in the season, Infinitheatre will put on David Sherman’s play, The Daily Miracle,  “about the disintegration of the newspaper industry and how it affects five people working on the desk at night, in January.”

Infinitheatre is run by Guy Sprung, who tirelessly promotes theatre and Montreal playwrights. “I began writing The Daily Miracle when I was working at The Gazette a few years ago,”  says David, “and Guy has been a huge help in getting the play into shape.”

Woolf + Lapin Welcomes Emerging Director Olivier Roberge

Woolf + Lapin is happy to welcome upcoming director Olivier Roberge. In Something in the Air, like in most of his work, Olivier likes to question the usual forms of narrative and invites the audience to take part in the story and contribute personally to the creation of meaning.

This kind of risk taking is modeled on the work of directors that he admires most: Bergman, Antonioni, and Tarkovski. Like them, the notion of not so linear forms of narratives are really what Olivier likes to experiment with. He gives a lot of breathing room to the audience’s interpretation. And banking on what is not said to communicate something vaster and more meaningful, rather than just complacently spoon feeding the audience, is really the crux of his work.

That is why communication, or the lack of it, is one of Olivier’s favored themes.

New Tony Hawk Spot by Patrick Boivin

This is the new commercial for the Tony Hawk HuckJam bikes. It’s by Patrick Boivin. He shot it on location at Hawk’s offices in San Diego with 900 Films producing. He shot some stuff here in Montreal as well. It was a true collaborative effort with Hawk acting also.

Jared Prindle from 900 Films says Patrick Boivn’s Teacher of Oz sketch is really what inspired them to bring Patrick aboard for the spot. It is at this same time that Circle of Confusion’s David Alpert sought Patrick to rep him in LA.

Circle of Confusion represent, among others, the Wachowski Brothers (The Matrix Trilogy). And more recently, Circle is behind the Book of Eli starring Denzel Washington. Patrick is now developing projects with the majors.
