Benjamin Steiger Levine is described by Boards Magazine as the “Soulful Surrealist”. He portrays experience through unexpected images that are both touching and unsettling. This balance between charm and discomfort, humanity and visual-wonder is the heart of his work.
Ben was featured as a Best New Director at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival as part of the Saatchi and Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase and named a Young Gun by the ADC. His promo for the band Beast was nominated for Best Music Video at the Grammys. His holiday Campaign for Samsung garnered a Cannes Lion. He has worked for clients such as Coca-Cola, Sprite, Google, Kellogg’s, Unilever and Nintendo to name a few.
With his attention now turned back to narrative he has recently completed the script for Fox Blood among other feature projects in development. His most recent writing and directorial endeavor, the short Marco & Polo Go Round has seen tremendous success. Produced as both an immersive VR experience and a traditional narrative film the project has been to over 35 festivals worldwide including, Cannes XR, Clermont-Ferrand, Tribeca, Annecy and has garnered top prizes at many of these.
Ben’s favorite films contain personal ideas which take shape in unexpected visual worlds, populated by unforgettable characters. He transports audiences to places that are both familiar but imagined, comfortable but terrifying, shocking but deeply moving.
