André Chocron Directs Paul McCartney’s “Appreciate”

Helmer André Chocron recently released this clip for Paul McCartney’s “Appreciate.”

We particularly like the sci-fi angle… that is the robot called “Newman.”

Speaking about Newman the former Beatle said: “I woke up one morning with an image in my head of me standing with a large robot. I thought it might be something that could be used for the cover of my album NEW, but instead the idea turned out to be for my music video ‘Appreciate’. Together with the people who had done the puppetry for the worldwide hit War Horse, we developed the robot who became Newman.”

André did this through Friend.

Woolf + Lapin and BRTHR Team UP

This is Iggy Azalea’s Bounce (Vision Film) that the directing duo BRTHR helmed about a year ago.

It very much captures the BRTHR savoir-faire not to mention Iggy Azalea’s strong Tupac inspired persona. The Bollywood theme is perfect for the song as well as for Iggy who earlier in May released her album The New Classic, becoming the highest-charting debut.

Needless to say that Woolf + Lapin is quite excited to be working with the young directing duo, who dropped out of film school just a couple of years ago to make videos such as this.

We love their style which, along with the eclectic editing, is always a good mix of honest grit and rich texture.

Martin Girard & Bruce La Bruce To Co-Write New Film: Twincest

bruce-labruce-2

Woolf + Lapin’s Martin Girard and Bruce La Bruce received SODEC funding to write Twincest.

The new project comes right after La Bruce’s Gerontophilia, which is inspired by the coming-of-age Harold and Maud love story. And much like Gerontophilia, Twincest is quite a departure from the director’s usual stylized exploitation outings, such as LA Zombie.

“Twincest tells the story of identical twins Dominic and Daniel who are separated from their adulterous, lesbian mother shortly after their birth in 1950.”

La Bruce reunites with Gerontophilia producer Nicolas Comeau of 1976 Productions.

The production is slated for a 2015 summer start.

Michael Lawrence’s Brand Film: Getting the Band Back Together

This is the work of a new addition to Woolf + Lapin, emerging director Michael Lawrence, whose subtle direction adeptly humanizes the Google brand.

It’s about a group of old-time rockers getting back together after a decades-long hiatus. But there’s a catch. The members of the band in question, Patriarch, live whole states apart.

Enter Google Fiber, where technology is limitless and makes it possible to jam together, wherever you are. The film is touching not only because of its real, authentic characters, but how it bears down on the “what-ifs” that we’ve all had to live down at some point in our lives. Plus, the association to Google is absolutely seamless and frictionless. Michael did this under the Paradoxal banner.

Rock on Patriarch!
